    NEW-Kindergraten Library Lessons for week of June 8-12th

    Good Morning Kindergarten. I hope you had a fun weekend. We are going to continue our study 

    of the Ocean in Library. Today we will be learning all about Sea Horses and then you will be listening to

    a special story by Eric Carle, called: Mr. Seahorse (Vids with Ry)

    Please enjoy this short animated movie: The Silly Seahorse

     

    After viewing the Mr. Seahorse story by Eric Carle and have watched the videos about Sea Horses,

    please complete Mr. Seahorse Library Project to make your own Mrs. or Mr. SeaHorse. You may use any materials and 

    supplies you have at home to decorate your Sea Horse. Then please send me a picture of your work!

    You can hang up your Sea Horse to celebrate Summer and the Ocean

    JUST FOR FUN-YOU MAY LIKE THIS SILLY STORY ABOUT THE POUT POUT FISH! IT WILL MAKE YOU SMILE!

    In Library this week we will be diving into the Ocean to learn about some cool creatures.

    Good Morning Kindergarten! In Library this week will be exploring Math and Measuring!

    Get ready to explore fiction and non-fiction, and learn about measuring things.

    Students will practice measuring.
    Students will identify different types of birds.
    Students will identify conflict and resolution.

    *Parents please follow this link to Scholastic Learn at Home Activity: Scholastic Learn at Home Series Day 10-Math and Measurement 

    Have your child watch the story, Inch by Inch by Leo Lionni and then read the non-fiction text: How Long Is It?. After reading click on the links on the left side of the books to complete your choice of the extra learning activities.

    Students can then watch this short video and take the quiz.

    Extenstion Ideas:

    It might be fun to look outside to see if you can find any "real" inchworms to observe, or find some things to measure in inches.

    For example: Legos, action figures, a shoe, your dog or cat, toy cars, a flower, baby brother or sister, etc.

    Good morning Kindergarten! This week for Library we will be playing I Spy!

    You will make your own I Spy, listen to a story, play I Spy games online, and try I Spy with

    your family. 

    1. With your Mom or Dad go to Make Your Own I Spy

    2. Try to create your own I Spy picture and write your own riddle.

    3. Then try the other I Spy games on this site, I Spy Bingo, I Spy City, I Spy Library.

    4. Afterwords watch this video of I Spy-Fly Guy-by Tedd Arnold-I Spy Fly Guy

     

    For some "Screen" free time with your family try these activities:

    *Play the old-fashioned I Spy by taking turns being the "Spy" and the Finder

    for items in your backyard, your kitchen, or playroom.

    *Collect a couple of small items such as action figures, Legos, toy cars, or other small toys and set them up on a table.

    Have your Mom, Dad, brother, or sister try to find items that you tell them to find.

    For example: I Spy with my little eye, A Lego Batman, an LOL doll, 5 green Legos, and a penny.

    Fun Family Learnining Activities

    1.  If you have a chance to go outside and play in your yard or take a walk.

         Use your senses (SightSound, Smell, Taste, Touch/Feel) tell what you

         see, hear, smell, and feel outside now that it is Spring!

    2.  Have your Mommy or Daddy help your write down what you: see, hear, smell, taste, and feel.

         If you do not get to go outside or take a walk you can imagine what you would  see, hear,

         smelltaste, and feel    

    3.  Then draw a picture and write a sentence to tell what you like to do in the SPRING!

    Log on to Starfall App Starfall and on the Home Page

    find the Shamrock. Tap on the Shamrock to open the Find a Four Leaf Clover Story.

    Read and Listen to the story and follow along to find the Shamrocks.

     

    Click on Talking Library  and chose the book-Dolphins Are Not Fish

    Choose Read to Me or Read by Yourself

    After reading the story, draw a Dolphin or a Fish and have your parents email me a picture

    of what you drew to konight@nvnet.org

     

    Lesson for the week of March 23

    Choose Animals and find the article about Dolphins

    After reading/listening to the article print out the activity to Label the Parts of a Dolphin

     

    Then chose Animal Habitats and click on Ocean Animals. The ocean is where dolphins live.

    After reading/listening to the article print out and complete the acitivty included: by clicking

    Activities on the bottom of this page. Draw a picture of your favorite ocean animal and tell one fact about it.

    Please turn in these pages when we return to school.
