Hello! My name is Julia Lefer, and I am very excited to be your child's fourth grade teacher! We are going to have a fantastic year!
Whenever I was asked the question, "what do you want to be when you grow up?", my answer was always, "a teacher". I always liked school and learning, and I am passionate about instilling a love of learning in your children this year!
Educational Background: I graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey with degrees in Psychology and Elementary Education, and I received teaching certification for Elementary Education (K-6) and Middle School Mathematics (5-8). I received a Master's Degree from Montclair State University in Inclusive Elementary Education (K-6) and a teaching certificate in Special Education (P-12). Additionally, I received Orton-Gillingham Teacher certification through Fairleigh Dickinson University. This program focuses on multi-sensory literacy instruction.
Profssional Background: Upon graduating college, I was a maternity leave replacement for a 2nd and 3rd grade classroom in Pequannock, NJ. I then moved on to teach 4th grade in East Newark, NJ. In 2014 I began teaching in Demarest at Demarest Middle School. I am very excited to be back in the elementary classroom at Luther Lee Emerson!
Fun Facts: When I am not teaching, I enjoy taking yoga classes, running, riding my bike, and swimming. I also teach Zumba/Dance Fitness classes, and I love to read!
